Possibilities for foreigners
As a foreigner, you can open a bank account in Spain. In principle, you can do this at any bank, but not all banks offer a smooth process and good service to foreigners. We recommend you to choose a Spanish bank that is internationally oriented. It is more comfortable to settle financial matters in English and not in Spanish. Always check if there is online banking in English, very handy when you do not speak sufficient Spanish.

Opening a Spanish bank account from a distance

Choice between different types of accounts
Depending on what you are planning to do with your Spanish bank account you can choose from different types of accounts. When your salary will be paid into this account you can choose for a special salary account which will give you certain advantages.
As an owner of a second home you can open a Spanish bank account to pay your monthly costs. Nowadays you can also pay the Spanish utility companies via a foreign account. However, not all Spanish companies accept foreign bank account numbers.
It is also possible to open a Spanish bank account in a company name if you also have a Spanish VAT number.
